The MIUR has given particular strategic importance to the birth and development of National Technological Clusters to be identified as drivers of sustainable economic growth of the territories and of the entire national economic system.

More specifically, the Clusters must be understood as organized aggregations of companies, universities, other public or private research institutions, other subjects also financials active in the field of innovation, articulated in several public-private aggregations, including the already existing Technological Districts, present on different territorial areas, led by a specific coordination and management body, focused on a specific technological and applicative field, suitable to contribute to the international competitiveness both of the reference territories and of the national economic system.

The nature and the role of the National Clusters can be more relevant as they are characterized by their reference to a limited number of transversal technological and application areas, within which the best experiences and skills existing on the national territory can be merged in a coordinated and organic way.
The analysis of the scientific and technological structure of the country and the national and community guidelines in this regard have led to the identification of specific areas, for each of which the MIUR has wanted to promote the birth and development of a National Technological Cluster.

 

The SIIT District, representing the Region of Liguria, participates in 3 National Clusters:

  • NATIONAL TECHNOLOGICAL CLUSTER – SMART COMMUNITIES
    The Smart Communities Technologies Cluster promotes the development of advanced technological solutions to implement innovative models to solve modern social challenges on an urban and metropolitan scale in various areas of interest, such as mobility, health, education, culture and tourism, energy networks, energy efficiency.
    In particular, starting from 2018, the Cluster primarily focused on three macro specializations: Mobility and Logistics, Security and Smart City, with the aim of collaborating with the other Clusters on the other issues mentioned.
    The Smart Community can, in fact, define itself as a place or territorial context in which, thanks to the support and application of pervasive technologies and the development of advanced application solutions, it is possible to implement innovative, inclusive, participatory, democratic and customizable processes and services, in response to modern social and technological challenges, respecting the requirements of environmental, social and economic sustainability while recognizing the centrality of the needs of the individual and the community.

  • NATIONAL TECHNOLOGICAL CLUSTER – SMART FACTORY
    Italy has a unique heritage of tradition, culture, skills, image, design and high technology that represents an optimal environment for high quality manufacturing for products and services with high added value.
    To continue to occupy a leading position in the global industrial context, achieving and maintaining excellent performance in the Made in Italy sectors and in the new strategic sectors of the future, it is essential to innovate the Italian manufacturing sector by investing in its resources.
    The Smart Factory Cluster is leading this important transformation to give life to a stable manufacturing community that is able to share in a clear strategic vision of the future and to increase Italian competitiveness in seizing international opportunities for research and development funding.

  • NATIONAL TECHNOLOGICAL CLUSTER – ITALY TRANSPORT 2020
    The Cluster, consisting in all the major national industrial and scientific players in the sectors of road transport, rail, waterways and inter-modality, intends to play a supporting role in central and regional policies on sustainable mobility by land, identifying common themes among the modes of transport that will allow to achieve results of technological advancement to allow for competitiveness in the productive system.
